Among women's neck ornaments in Ukraine, the favorite and popular in the XIX and XX centuries was a necklace made of amber, which was mined in Volyn (in Dubrovytsia and Ushomyr). Ukrainian amber varied in color: it was dark brown, yellow, red-yellow, orange, whitish-yellow, as well as in transparency: it was transparent, translucent, cloudy and opaque.
Beads were made of small pieces of amber using special tools. Amber necklaces most often consisted of a single row, laid from smaller elements at the edges to larger ones in the middle. The most common was a round, slightly flattened polyhedral shape of beads. The size of the beads is 8-20 mm in diameter each.
Nowadays, amber necklaces of different shades are popular again, and different types of amber are used to create jewelry - from raw to processed in the form of balls, "rondels" or "tablets".
